We are 40 million voices strong!

People with disabilities have long been forgotten when it comes to the Democratic process this country was founded upon. Our journey into the mainstream of society has been a long, and still ongoing, process. It's our time to lend our voices to the process. We protest injustices, write letters, and whatever else we have to do to fight for our rights. Now we need to let Washington, DC know we exist as a viable voting block.

This website is a non-partisan resource for the 2008 Presidential candidates. During the primaries, we will provide each candidates views on disability rights. We will ask them all the same questions about our civil rights, educational opportunities, government benefits, what they'd do to reduce our unemployment rate, and what they'd do to improve programs like the Development of Developmental Disabilities and the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation. No longer can politicians discount our vote.

We encourage everyone who hasn't yet to register to vote. Unfortunately, we cannot offer a fully accessible online registration right now. You can use Rock the Vote, which is likely inaccessible to screen readers, or contact your state to register by mail or in person. To further help, Indepent Living Research Utiliation hosts a list of independent living centers by state.

To learn more about the candidates, we have compiled the links to their campaign websites. Also, courtesy of Justice For All and the American Asociation of People with Disabilities, answers to a questionnaire are posted on our blog (with permission). we highly recommend visiting those sites also; vast amounts of information are at our fingertips, we need to take advantage.
